Effective Strategy to Crack BANK PO Exam

One needs to prepare thoroughly for the subjects being examined in this paper.

It is advisable to follow a proper and systematic study plan while preparing for BANK PO Exam. As you know that there is sectional cut off, therefore, let us discuss the sectional preparation strategy for BANK PO Exam.

There are various banking sector exams such as IBPS, SBI and RRB, they conduct Clerical level, P.O. Level and Specialist Officer level exams. The question paper of these exams has four sections to be mastered thoroughly these are:

1. General English
2. Logical Reasoning
3. Quantitative Aptitude
4. General Awareness

General English: Those who have strong base of the language can score decent marks. Read newspaper every day and take the mock tests conscientiously. It should be followed by the detailed analysis of the test to improve your weaknesses.

Those who are not having strong base of the language should buy a basic grammar book like Wren and Martin. Read and learn all the basic grammar rules and understand them thoroughly. You should develop the habit of reading small articles of any magazine to cultivate the learning process by understanding with the help of anybody who is good in English. Further you can read descriptive articles. 

The more you read the more you will be able to write the language correctly. Build a strong vocabulary slowly and gradually by practicing the difficult words learned. Hard work always pays and so does will be in your case.  Try to master the language so that you can attempt this section effectively.

Logical Reasoning: This is one of the most scoring section as well as challenging too. It is challenging because there is no set syllabus for this section for banking exams. Therefore be ready to face any or all types of questions. Generally Puzzle/Seating Arrangement questions are asked more in number than other topics.

But at the same time it difficult to predict the pattern in advance as it is an ever changing section with no specific syllabus. There is no specific book which covers all the topics. The only help one can get is from the previous year question papers. Attempt them thoroughly and analyze them. It will quench your anxiety to a great extent.

In case you do not find yourself comfortable with quizzes or Seating Arrangement then you can try some miscellaneous topics of reasoning such as Input-Output, Coding-Decoding, Inequalities, Syllogisms, Direction Sense, Data Sufficiency, Ranking and Order, Critical reasoning – Assumptions, Conclusions, Cause, and Effect etc.

There is a dire need to learn all the topics as puzzles are attractive and sound easy to solve but once you are trapped you might land up into a wrong answer. Therefore solve them if and only if you are confident in puzzles and arrangements or else attempt the miscellaneous section.

Quantitative Aptitude/Data Interpretation-  In case you are weak in Quantitative Aptitude since childhood but you need to work hard to clear the sectional cut –off somehow.

Practice the calculation based questions such as DI, which does not need any formulae to be learned. There are some complex topics in Quantitative Aptitude section these are: Time and Distance, CI-SI, Time and Work. These topics need more time to prepare. You need to buy a reputed author book to study these topics thoroughly. Try to solve and understand the questions and concepts from the book and it will work wonders.

Topics such as Series, Data Sufficiency can and should be prepared from other sources than mock tests or book, online is the best source. Attempt the mock tests to test your knowledge and understanding and keep enhancing your learning process. Prepare a list of formulae of CI or Boat and Stream as sometimes questions are asked from these topics also.

1. General Awareness: Current affairs are very important for General Awareness section as more than 45 per cent of questions are based on Current Affairs. It can be prepared with less effort. One needs to read lot of current affairs from newspapers and other sources. Simply make a list of the incidents of national and international news which are related to financial and economic issues. These notes will help you to revise them as learning sounds boring. Simple read and try to remember. Revise them daily till your exam date. The current affairs of last 100 days should be studied as nothing beyond has been asked so far according to the previous year exam analysis.

• Banking Awareness: This section includes the thorough knowledge of the banking functions and history. Buy a good book covering all the topics related to banking procedure and learn them thoroughly.
• Static GK: Very less questions are asked from this topic but one must revise the basic information of Indian Static GK such as Dams and rives National Park and WLS, Nuclear, Thermal and Hydro Power Plants, CMs and Governors, Capital and Currency of Countries, HQs of major Organizations.

Also, the capitals and currencies of the countries to which our PM or President recently visited or the countries whose heads visited India.

Once you have prepared for your bank exam according in Ambala to the given strategy you are sure to crack the exam in the first attempt.
